Raninidae qf the Tertiary in the Berico-Lessinea area. (N. Italy).

Abstract: After having treated some systematic problems, concerning the family Raninidae de Haan, 1841, recently discovered material is described. It includes seven new species (Cosmonotus eocaenicus n.sp., Cyrtorhina globosa n. sp., C. oblonga n. sp., Laeviranina pulchra n. sp,, Notopoides exiguus n. sp. , Notosceles arzignanensis n. sp., Ranilia punctulata n. sp.). Fossils of the genera Cosmonotus and Cyrtorhina are described for the first time.

BESCHIN C., BUSULINI A., DE ANGELI A., TESSIER G., UNGARO S. (1991) - Due nuovi generi di Raninidae dell'Eocene del Veneto (Italia). Lavori Soc.ven.Sci.nat.,16:187-212, 5 tt.

Two new genera of Raninidae of the Eocene of the Venetia (Italy).

Abstract: Two new genera of fossil Raninidae are described, namely Lianira n. gen. with its two species L. beschini n. sp. and L. convexa n. sp. and Lovarina n. gen. with L. cristata n. sp.. All these forms have been found in Eocene strata in the Valle del Chiampo (VI).
A micropaleontological study has been accomplished about them; this has led to palaeoecological considerations and above all has brought to determine with greater precision their age. The layers in which Lianira beschini and Lovarina cristata have been discovered, have been attributed to the Turborotalia c. frontosa zone of the basal part of the Lutetian; those with Lianira convexa to the Nummulites beneharnensis zone of the Middle Lutetian. The foraminiferal associations were peculiar to a shallow and warm sea.

Genus Micromaia Bittner (Crustacea, Decapoda) in the Tertiary of' Berici and Lessini area. Description of three new species.

Abstract: After general considerations on the genus Micromaia Bittner, with a particular reference to systematic problems, the species belonging to this genus found in the Berici and Lessini zones are dealt with. Three new species (M. elegans, M. mainensis, M meneguzzoi) are described apart from the already known M. tuberculata, M margaritata, M. priabonensis. Moreover, the description of Micromaia sp. coming from Valmarana (Vicenza), makes it possible to widen the stratigraphic distribution of the genus to the uppermost Middle Oligocene.

Eocene Crustacea fauna from the "Rossi Quarry " at Monte di Malo ('Vicenza - Northern Italy).

Abstact: The rich crustacean fauna of Early and Middle Eocene age from three levels in the "Rossi Quarry" at Monte di Malo (Vicenza) is described. One species of Anomura (Ctenocheles sp.) and 13 species of Brachyura belonging to 9 genera (Typilobus semseyanus, ?Mithracia sp., Laeviranina cf fabianii, Lophoranina marestiana, L. bittneri, L. straeleni, Lianira beschini, L. convexa, Harpactoxanthopsis quadrilobata, Lophopanopeus sp., Palaeograpsus inflatus, P. loczyanus, Loerenthopluma lata) are described and illustred. The affinities existing between Spanish, Italian and Hungarian crustacean fauna are confirmed. The micropalaeontological study has brought to determine the age of the three levels with Crustacea, which refer to the interval between Middle Cuisian and Middle Lutetian (from the Nummulites nitidus Zone to the Morozovella lehneri). From the palaeoenvironmental point of view the fossliferous assemblage and the frequent occurrence of bio-intraclasts indicate an infralitoral setting and warm waters.
